It seems that lately there has been quite a lot of controversy and disagreement about the history of Creation. This rivalry has been growing for years now, in communities (both religious and scientific), in our schools, and even in our “courts of law”. After such a long, enduring war of beliefs, one must ask the question…are they ever going to find a middle ground? Are these two views of the world so far apart that they can never meet? Perhaps those who argue are simply not willing to let them.

In my opinion, based on my own observations, I believe that both of these “theories” hold an element of truth but are, by themselves, incomplete. I will not say that either belief is “wrong”, but perhaps that willing lack of bias is the reason that these two seemingly separate perspectives fit so neatly together for me. To be quite honest, I believe the only reason that these two “theories” have never officially met in the middle is because of their followers’ blind devotion to being “right” and someone else being “wrong”. (See why do we need to limit God?)

I’m not going to go into great detail about the personal reasons for everyone’s choice and beliefs; I’ve mentioned them in other articles and will probably re-explore them in the future. I will, however, try to start at the beginning…literally. To do this I must make one thing perfectly clear….no matter what it is, a thought or idea, there are always two ways to look at anything. Duality is the basis of perception as much as it is the basis for our belief in “how this all started”. Knowing this, we must explore both perspectives and their root.

Creationism: The belief that all things were created by God, completely, at the Moment of Creation.

Evolutionism: The belief that all things were created over time, adapting based on the environment and the rules of “survival of the fittest”.

The key to both of these beliefs is actually in the definition. Creationists believe God is not subject to Time while Evolutionists believe that all things are subject to Time. These are the opposing perspectives…and they’re both based on the concept of “Time”.

Before continuing I would like to take a moment to expand on the “concept of Time”. I say “concept” because, as with our beliefs, there are two opposing perspectives…each one valid, each one a choice.

One perspective of Time is that it is Linear…meaning it started “sometime” (the beginning) and continues in a straight line to “some other time” (one would assume this means “the end”). This perspective is based on our observation of “cause and effect” and, of course, our idea of “memory” (more on this in future writings).

However, there is another perspective of time that is equally valid but rarely examined (except for the occasional spiritualist or Quantum Physicist). This perspective states that Time itself is an illusion, that only the current Moment exists. This perspective is also based on observation but has been unfortunately labelled “philosophy”.

In truth, one cannot prove either one of these perspectives to be true. You cannot prove that 5 minutes ago happened any more than 5 minutes from now will happen. You can try, many people have, but when it comes down to it you are always in the “here and now”. For example, when you started reading this article it was “here and now”, but you’ve moved forward it seems, you’ve progressed….and yet, you’re still “here and now”. I hope this makes sense because it is vital to the rest of this article.

So, the question remains, how can two opposing perspectives meet?

Easily if one can admit that they are both true as much as false. The single biggest cause of strife or separation is our need to be “correct”….this need is based on our own need to feel better about ourselves and, of course, to define ourselves. In fact, without this need, one can see that all perspectives of reality are equally valid. But what do we see?

In The Beginning

Both the scientific community and the religious community agree on one thing when it comes to creation. They agree that it started somewhere…whether you believe in the Big Bang or The Void (Genesis) the beginning is always “nothingness”.

The Big Bang

For the most part, scientists believe that all matter, broken down far enough, is the same thing…in fact, this thing is not measurable and beyond description. It is so infinitely small that one could actually say it is without size at all. This “energy” makes up everything, living or otherwise. This energy, in its original form, is the foundation of our material reality.

The Big Bang theory is simply an explanation of the “steps” this energy went through in becoming what we see it to be today.

(For a beautifully well designed chart of the Big Bang Process, visit www.crystalinks.com/bigbang.html)

Remembering the concept of “Time” it is easy to see how this theory came into being. One thing must follow another, and another, and so on…thus, the Big Bang Theory. This theory still states that the “Beginning” is indescribable…in essence, before there was something, there was nothing. That nothingness “evolved” and “expanded” into different variations of itself and, over “Time” formed the Universe. Makes sense, right? Let’s move on.

The Void (Genesis)

Creation theory is much simpler to explain, and at the same time much more complicated because it delves into “the mind of God”. To put it plainly, creation theory is the belief that all things were created by God at the Beginning. Genesis states that in the Beginning there was “The Void” and “God was the Void and the Void was God”.

If you’ll notice, this theory still believes in that “nothingness” previously described…the only difference here is that “nothingness” had a consciousness. It was Aware. So, “nothingness” and “God” are actually the same thing…quite literally, everything (remember, first there was only the Void).

Now, following this logic, nothingness became reality. Genesis describes this as a “Seven Day” process, but remember that “nothingness” has no Time so a “Day” means absolutely nothing. Keeping this in mind, we see that Genesis is not very different from the above image of the Big Bang…it is a list of steps for the creation of the universe.

But, does God need “Time” if it is everything? Further exploration is necessary.

Duality and Unity

This is going to be the most difficult part of this essay so I ask for your patience and an open-mind. For just a quick moment let’s discuss the nature of Reality. After all, whether it is Creationism or Evolutionism the real focus here is the observation of the reality we all experience…right? Right. So, throwing our need to be correct aside, let’s actually look at reality without bias or assumption.

Reality (the world and our mind) is a complex mixture of equal and opposite perceptions. To put it simply, everything exists in a state of Duality. For Hot you have Cold, Light/Dark, Hard/Soft, Pleasure/Pain, Faith/Fear, etc…this state is constant, without it there would be no experience and no reality. How could you experience Hot if the experience of Cold didn’t exist?

The tricky part about understanding the “Beginning” is that this concept does not fall into Duality. What I mean here is that The Void is one thing. This nothingness is still something, but there is only one of it. One thing does not have Duality…it is simple Unity.

This is the biggest stumbling block in our understanding of God, Reality, or Creation. We cannot grasp how One Thing (nothing) became so many variations of itself…how did Duality come into being?

There is only one answer to this, and it lies in your existence. One thing cannot be two things, but it can be perceived as two things. Unfortunately, for that to be true there must be a perceiver…that’s you. But who was the perceiver in the Void?

God and Us

Let’s assume, for the moment, that this “nothingness” I have been referring to was actually conscious. Now, as one thing, this consciousness would only be aware of itself. It would not be aware of anything else or the possibility of anything else because it is everything…there is no space or time, there is simply nothingness and the awareness of its existence as that nothingness. This is Unity. But, to experience anything, Duality must exist…and so that consciousness had to perceive itself to be two things. For the first time, the Void was perceived (very important) as separate. There was now a Perceiver and a Perceived.

Before I continue, I would like to point out something very important about this consciousness. Our understanding of this consciousness is entirely dependant upon our own beliefs and limitations. We are talking about “nothingness”…infinitely adaptable (it can be and is the foundation of everything), eternally present (how can something that is everything ever die?), and completely and utterly free (there are no rules to follow). Knowing this, a possibility opens to us. What would you do if you were God? Quite simply…you would do everything.

Everything covers a lot of things, I cannot begin to cover them all, but for the purposes of this exercise let us say that “God” wanted to experience. The perceiver wanted to perceive every possible variation of itself…with Eternity to play with, wouldn’t you? Remember that this “consciousness” can never truly die, it has nothing to fear and nothing to lose…it is everything and always will be. And so, it has no bias…Good or Bad, experience is the only goal.

I realize that I keep stating this, but it is really very important to grasp this concept of “being everything”. I’ll use an example just to be clear…

Currently, you have a countless number of possibilities that can move in and out of your mind. You can imagine purple skies, chocolate cars, and even entire experiences that you are not currently experiencing…we call this imagination, but to a consciousness that is everything there is no such thing as imagination. The mind of God is The Void; therefore any possibility that enters the mind of God is made real because it is within the Void (the building blocks of everything). Think about this, to a mind with no limitation, how many possibilities could exist? An infinite amount…quite literally, anything that could exist does exist because all that is real is within the Void (there is nothing else, remember?).

Now, doing everything doesn’t just imply “playing basketball” or “fishing”…these are actions and not complete “experiences”. A complete experience is not just the action but also the state of mind of the perceiver. This state of mind includes belief, thoughts, doubts, memories, imagination, and even self-imposed limitations. What am I saying? I’m saying that God, in wanting to do everything, wanted to experience every possible variation of self-awareness. There are 2 extremes here and an infinite amount of variations in between.

Basically, “God” not only wanted to experience being everything, it very much wanted to experience what it would be like to “not be everything”. It wanted to experience what it would be like to be complete unaware of its own divinity.

Now, of course, God will always be God (everything cannot stop being everything), but because it perceives itself to be separate from the Void it can absolutely convince itself that it is something else. This is the freedom of an unlimited consciousness…it can believe whatever it likes.

The Moment and Time

This is the final step in our exploration of Creationism and Evolutionism because this is where they meet. They meet in the concept of Time, remember? First, let’s look at The Moment.

In The Void (or the Beginning) there is no time. Eternity and a single Moment are the same thing. When Duality was created there was a mass explosion of possible Moments that entered the mind of God (we call this Reality or the Universe). All of these Moments, of course, are still within the Void and therefore exist in the same “place or time”. Hard to grasp? It should be.

Now, remembering that Time does not exist in Unity, we must explore Duality to find it. The perceiver (God convinced it is separate from itself) exists in Duality, and because of that it can experience. But the very concept of experience is based on a series of Moments happening one after another…so Time must be perceived.

The most unbelievable part about this is that, in an infinite amount of possible moments, there is an order to it. There appears to be a story to each of our lives. I mean, with all things existing at once, it is completely possible (to God, all things are) that a Dinosaur could fall out of your fridge at any time…but that doesn’t happen, does it? Out of all the seemingly chaotic events in each of our lives there is also an order. Why? Because “experience” is a broad topic…not only does God want to experience each state of mind, it wants to experience every possible series of experiences as well. Basically, it wanted to be you and everyone else. And here you are, thinking it took you time to read this article, but in reality you’ve never left the Void.

In conclusion, yes the universe was created in steps. Each variation of “nothingness” expanding into another variation of that same nothingness (see the Big Bang image above), but if God (everything) never left the Void, then those steps are only perceived to be separate from each other when, in fact, they all exist at once.

So who is actually correct…The Creationists or the Evolutionists?

Both, they are all the same Perceiver wanting to experience a different perception and state of mind. God wanted to experience everything, even disagreeing with itself.

In this world there are many different types of strange phenomena. One of the strangest has to be our insatiable desire to implement change. We honestly believe that without our help, change would not occur. We assume that, even if change did happen without us, it would inevitably be worse than change according to our design. Such arrogance we have! It is funny that we struggle to control the only constant in our known reality…inevitable change.
So why do we have this need for control? To put it bluntly, we are afraid of change. The very idea that something might happen that we do not expect frightens us to death. In fact, this fear is so widespread that we naturally associate it to other people, assuming that our council and advice will obviously improve the lives of others. The truly ironic part of all this is that eventually, after many generations, we also end up at the receiving end of someone else’s need for control/security. Want an example? The entire concept of government is based on the need to control the status quo. So, now that the status quo has been decided, enforced, and made convenient, the public goes out into the world with a renewed sense of safety…until something happens that was not previously expected. Luckily, the system is foolproof when it comes to offering the illusion of control. Despite the fact that we know the government controls our education, laws, and even health care, we believe that, again, we must implement change. Rallies, riots, terrorists…each one a more extreme reflection of our need for control and our growing fear of uncontrolled change.
When will it be time for us, as a species, to stop and abandon our need for control? Left and right we will protest that we have found enlightenment and still we go out into the world looking for those who “need” us. Why? Because throughout our lives, other people have been using us for the same reason. Isn’t it hard to accept that every assumption you have is based on the belief of someone else who just had to “improve” your life? Control and Dependency go hand in hand…for us to give up one, we need to give up the other. Not as a society, that is how all of this began in the first place. You don’t have to go out there the change the world. Your world is not out there your world is in you. For the longest time, we have believed that group decisions are best for the whole…unfortunately this creates a system where only a select number are pleased while the others are forced to abide by the collective decision. The slogan “we are all in this together” has been manipulated and bastardized to make you believe that only through numbers will positive change ever happen in the world.
This view of change is very limited, and more importantly, very inaccurate. We assume that the only important change is large-scale change because those are the only changes we stop to notice. Now, this is not because massive change is the only actual change…this is because we’re moving too quickly to notice the very small and most important changes.
One of our natural assumptions has always been that everyone is separate from everyone else and that thoughts are individual and private. This assumption is based on our belief in separation…we believe that we are separate from reality. Just for a moment, lets say that this belief is a perception…not necessarily the end-all and be-all, but one way of interpreting the world.
As I’ve mentioned in other writings, Duality is the absolute foundation of all perception. For love you have Hate, for arrogance you have Humility, and of course everything in between. We’ll discuss this another time, but for now let’s say that every perception has an equal opposite perception which is just as valid according to the perceiver. Saying that, let us look back at our last assumption.

“We are separate from reality because we are within it.” : This perception makes you and I very small specks in an apparently random mass of cause and effect.

My point is simply this, for this perception of separation to exist the equal and opposite perception must also be available to us.

“I am connected to reality because it is within me”: This perception creates absolute responsibility. Reality is within, and therefore all things within reality are a reflection of your beliefs, fears, doubts, deceptions, guilt, hopes, and even feelings. Change through active control of the outside world is redundant in this perception, change is entirely dependant on the perceivers ability to understand Duality. Within the mind, one has 3 options…to be looking for oneself, to be running from oneself, or to be oneself. Each of these states of perception are directly linked to how “reality” and you interact. It is in this perception that attention is paid to the smallest changes within, these are the origins of the larger changes without.

In this perception, help becomes an entirely new concept. The concept of helping someone is based on our belief that they need help. Think about this…our entire lives are devoted to finding ourselves…whether we know and admit it or not. The only true way to find yourself is through abandoning your fear and standing on your own…but, how did you learn to stand in the first place? As much as we hate to admit it, it is our hard times, our loneliest and most frustrated times that teach us our own ability to survive and flourish. Our help is misplaced, it seems, because we are trying to make life easier on others, and all we are doing is creating dependence in them. We are helping them avoid responsibility by believing that we are responsible for them. I realize that this may sound cold-hearted…it did to me at first. But the fact is that coddling people builds dependency and inevitably a disbelief that any responsibility should be taken at all. This does not mean you shouldn’t help someone carry a bag or move to a new house…by all means, help the person who would willingly do the job themself…the person who is not willing to try should be left to their own actions until responsibility is learned (reality is beautiful that way). These are reflections of you that believe they do not have choice or freedom, to be their crutch is choosing to let these reflections continue to exist.

So, what are we ultimately responsible for? Ourselves and our perception of the world. We are not responsible to ideals, morals, laws, people, or even God. We are responsible for what we hold onto and the “consequences” those things bring. We are responsible for this because, as “God”, we create these hardships…we create circumstances specifically for the purposes of altering our own personal story. Choice is the path through perception and our circumstances alter our choice..inevitably we find ourselves with the same 3 choices we have in the Mind. Be yourself, find yourself, or run from yourself. Your responsibility is to choose…not once, but every moment you create.

I find it funny that one of the oldest concepts in the world has become one of modern society’s biggest irritants. The problem with this is that the concept has been lost behind all the problems created by people who did not fully understand the concept to begin with. Religion is, by far, at the forefront of this list of problems. Government is close behind. So what is the concept we’ve lost? At the risk of sounding “philosophical”, I’ll put it in one word. God.

The concept of God is a simple one. Or at least, it was at one point. God is everything. That’s pretty much the long and short of it. At no point does religion enter into this, this is just a true and utter definition of the word god. Scientifically, it has been proven that all matter, even our own bodies, is made up of energy. All energy, broken down, is inevitably made of the same thing. Studies are currently being done to show that Energy broken down is, in fact, fluid and without separation. The Brookhaven National Laboratory has labelled this energy a “quark-gluon plasma” (for more information visit http://www.post-gazette.com/healthscience/19990614quarksoup1.asp). This simple fact is a clue into the realm of god. God is everything. No religion or faith involved.

So where does this information lead us? Well, it gives us undeniable proof that all of reality is, without doubt, connected by something. The separation we see between us and anything else (chairs, people, animals, dirt, air, etc) is completely of our own making because that space is actually Connected by energy. This energy could be called “Life”, “God” or “Reality”, the label means nothing. The concept is true. All of life is connected.

Understandably, this information seems a little pointless when faced with the toils and troubles of everyday life. People still feel separated from reality because they feel they have no control over reality. In fact, religion was based on this simple premise. Those people, so fearful of what might happen, turned to prayer and worship. The sad part about prayer and worship is that the people who feel the need to do these things often feel that, they themselves, are not good enough to understand “god’s will”. They feel that they could never have control of their lives because they are “flawed”. Surely someone closer to God, someone “better”, could tell them what to do. You and I both know that there are plenty of people out there just aching to prove they can be better, especially if it means taking responsibility away from someone else for their own life. And so, religion was born.

So, if not religion, then what? Well, religion is basically nothing more than a group of people so puffed up in their own self-righteousness that they feel they need a certain “status” in the world. They feel they need worshippers, a church, hymns and prayers, and maybe a little advertising. Why? Because they feel they can guide you through the world better than you can guide yourself. Not all of them are self-serving, though in that position of trust the temptation is surely there, but they are nonetheless taking your life away from you. You, as a person, are responsible for one thing. Yourself. The things you own, the people you love, and the beliefs you follow are just things you’ve picked up along the way…they can leave just as quickly. You are responsible for one thing. How you “respond” to everything.

I’ve went a little off topic here but I assure you there was a reason for it. Often, people will tell me that they have no faith in god because bad things happen all over the world. They have no faith in god because bad things have happened to them. They feel separated, as if there is no connection to anything around them and they’re afraid. So the question here is “Who are you?”. I don’t mean your name, your status, or what you do. I don’t want a description or even a short sonnet. I mean you…without the physical, without sight, sound, or touch. How do you know that you exist? You know you exist because you are aware of yourself. You know you exist because you can say “I am”. So who are you, if not a name or label?

Many people, throughout history, have asked this question. Unfortunately, they have been labelled “philosophers” for the most part, which usually puts them in a class we don’t feel we can relate to. The sad part is that people ask this question everyday and always get slammed down by others saying “Don’t be so philosophical (or religious)”. There is nothing philosophical or religious about this question, it’s just a good question.

So, back to the question of who you are. For the moment, we’ll call yourself “consciousness”. It’s a good term, and basically it means “the awareness of yourself”. That awareness, we humans pride ourselves on it, and we often think we’re the only species with it, but where does it come from? What is the spark that allows all living things to move around in and experience the world? Even science has shown that the human brain is almost like a giant sponge. Using electricity, different parts of the brain are stimulated to allow in more information. If you’re a computer whiz, the term hard-drive might be more appropriate. The common belief is that as we interact with the world around us and “learn” different things, our brain forms to allow more information in and then comes up with an appropriate response. This is partly true; the brain does indeed receive information from the reality around it.

In an article I read once, the Dalai Lama asked the question “why does the brain have to create consciousness, can consciousness not run the brain?” Obviously, we have no way to prove this, but it changes our entire concept of how the brain works. If consciousness is what drives the brain, then indeed all of our insights, intuitions, and instincts stem from that consciousness. Have you ever realized you knew something you had never actually thought about? Said something to someone else that, in fact, taught you something?

Back to the original concept God as “everything”, consciousness exists within the reality around us. It exists within that immense “quark-gluon plasma” and is therefore part of it. Almost everyone has heard the saying “God exists within us all”. I know it sounds dogmatic and a little self-righteous but, taking away the religions context, what does that mean? Now, think about this, it’s a strange concept at first.

The human body and all matter (including electricity) is made of a very base energy that connects everything.

The human brain collects information and runs the human body with the aid of Electricity to stimulate the parts of the mind needed to “record” a lesson.

Sight, touch, sound, and all the senses are nothing more than our “physical bodies” interacting with the energy around us moving at different vibrations.

After looking at these points, we now know where consciousness stems from. It stems from the energy around us. Everything is made of this “energy”, not just physical things like furniture, but intangible things like thought as well. With that said, can it not be said that we, all matter (living or un-living), are indeed extensions of “God” Would we be able to say “I Am” if we were not connected to everything? No, because we would not exist.

You see, the concept of God and Us is very simple. There are no religious “requirements”; there are no “sins” or “hell worthy trespasses”. There is simply you, and you are God. You are responsible for yourself, and that means how you affect everything else. You are a reflection of an infinite consciousness that wants to experience everything. This consciousness, God as we call it, is nothing more than the combined efforts of all of us. God’s will is reflected in how we respond to the reality we’re given. God’s will is reflected when we relax and live without fear, because all of this is ours.

Before I begin this piece I would like to make something perfectly clear to you, the reader. If you believe that your Religion is the one true path to God, you are not going to like what I have to say. I am going to offend you and you are going to try very hard to forget that you have ever come across this essay. I am not going to lie to you, and that in itself should be a shocking change from the institution you follow so blindly.

This is not an attack upon organized religion; this is an exploration of its purpose. By definition, Religion is an institution organized to express belief in God. These institutions offer a community of like-minded people with like-minded beliefs. The beliefs themselves come from the “Holy Book” of that institution. There are several in the world, each one the focus of a different religion. The Bible (New and Old), The Toran, The Qu’ran, The Dhammapaddha, and the Tao Te Ching are just a few.

At first glance, the idea of organized religion makes sense. If we’re supposed to worship God, why not do it in groups? In fact, because people take this so seriously, a certain amount of ceremony should be involved as well….after all, this is God we’re talking about. Hats, Robes, Candles, possibly a Bell…all props to make the routine of worship seem as important and powerful as possible. But what does this have to do with God?

The strangest part of organized religion seems to be their willing misinterpretation of the Books they worship. Many “religious enthusiasts” can quote chapter and verse, but quoting something doesn’t mean you understand it. The majority of “Holy Books” out there are based upon the words and actions of a single figure. Buddha, Mohammed, Christ, Lao Tzu, etc…all of these people were regarded as “close to God”, and so their story was recorded and told to others. This telling is what formed Religion, but is worshipping these figures what they had intended for us? Did Christ want you to worship him or follow him?

I think the biggest fault of every religion is their unwillingness to accept change. Admittedly, there is a certain sense of security found in knowing that your beliefs never have to change because they come from a book you believe was written by “God”. But what of the message inside the book? “God comes from within” is usually the most important message. If God comes from within, then worshipping the book is avoiding God.

At no point will I say that reading any of these books is a waste of time. In fact, I highly recommend reading them and enjoying the symbolism and lessons they are meant to convey. What I’m saying is that the Book is a message from God, but only one message. To worship one thing as the “only source of God’s Word” is limiting both your own growth and your idea of God. Think about it, God is everything, why would it only communicate through a book? Wouldn’t there be better ways?

Dejavu, Coincidence, Insight, Dreams, Imagination, Intuition…these are the messages from God. God is everything…repeat this and try to take it seriously. Everything is a lot of things…thoughts, sounds, objects, feelings, emotions. God, like the Holy Books, is not meant to be worshipped; it is meant to be appreciated. God is the thing that allows us to exist, it is our own consciousness, it is our own will to be. You are God.

(see A question worth asking)

So why does religion still exist if, in truth, it has nothing to do with being with God? Because it is an easy out…an escape from responsibility. Remember, if you believe God is only in a church or in a book, then it’s not around when you are doing the things you don’t want god to see. Basically, the church offers justification…it offers you the excuse that you are a sinner and therefore below God. But if God is within you…are you really below God, or are you just not taking responsibility?

The Heaven that you so crave is not in a Book, it is in you.

Do not worship those who have gone before you to “God”, just know that they were preparing the road for you

Insight

It strikes me as funny that I’ve had an insight that has led me to writing this piece on insight. What is insight? Well, to me, insight is sudden realization of a connection. What I mean here is that thoughts, opinions, memories…perceptions connect and something new is revealed. It seems almost like two or three things that would never possibly connect do connect and a new spectrum of possibilities are open.

I’ll give you an example, for years I went around trying to build myself into “something”. I didn’t know what that “something” was, of course, but I knew it would make me socially accepted(what I perceived to be love). Now, it never occurred to me that in trying to build “myself”, I was actually already something to be built on. See, this whole time period was under the belief that “to be”, one must “be something”. There were lots of options to pick from too…anything from “intellectual” to “Hippie”. But again, it never dawned on me that I was already “something”. Then suddenly it did dawned on me, and I was faced with an ugly fact. If I am something underneath this “idea of who I am”, then I cannot describe myself because I’m not an idea. This is a frightening insight to anyone who believes you must “be something” to be socially accepted(loved). The point is that this insight did, in fact, open a whole new perception to explore.

What I’m saying is that insight itself does happen. Now, one could struggle for insight…even delve into books on people who have had insights. But that is not insight, that is memorization. So how does insight occur? If not through study, how could such “intelligence” simply just appear?

Think about this, until this insight came along, you could not believe it existed. It’s like looking at a painting and not seeing half of it because you don’t believe its there. So how did it come along so suddenly and where did it come from? I’m going to draw from my example above to answer this. In admitting that there is a “self” outside (or within) my idea of my self, I was left with 2 options…and I still am. I could either accept this insight and let go of my need for social acceptance, or I could resist and remain in my idea of who I am. Ideas are, for the most part, beautifully built distractions that can completely take us over when we believe we are our ideas. In the end, our belief is what creates our reality (perception).

Knowing that these are my two choices, I can see two directions. I can either run away from myself, or I can move toward myself (simply being). So, where do insights come from? They come from the “self”. If every idea is created within the “self”, then the “self” itself can be anything at all.

It is very important to remember that Time itself is a perception. Without the belief in time, you are left with the moment. My point is that the “self” can in fact be anything, but if only the moment exists…then it already is everything. There is no process of creation when it comes to ideas or perceptions…in the moment, there can’t be.
Once again we are left with two choices. To accept that all possible perceptions exist at once is to abandon the need for a “process”. I often feel that some sort of “process” is required to advance me as an “individual”, but if “I” am already perceiving “everything” right now then the process is no longer required.

Another example. Throughout my life I have developed goals, ambitions, and even dreams. I have done this because I very much want the “feeling” that achieving these goals would give me. The goal itself, while enjoyable, is enjoyable for the very basic reason that I appreciate it. I could say I appreciate it because I worked for it, but the fact is that I appreciate it because I choose to appreciate it. I could let a million and one things bother me and lose my appreciation, or I could choose not to.

In choosing, I am choosing a perception. In not letting things bother me, I am choosing the perception of appreciation. But, if only the moment truly exists, then I am not creating these perceptions. I am choosing them from an infinite amount of possible perceptions that already exist.

So why did I have to set a goal to have this right to choose? If they’re always available…must I really do anything except choose appreciation?

Ahh, but saying “I will choose appreciation” is much easier than actually doing it. The choice seems almost invisible when faced with the daily workings of the world. I get caught up in things, I form opinions, I get frustrated…the choice of appreciation just doesn’t seem possible in these perceptions. Then again, these perceptions are entirely based on “Time”. It makes sense that to abandon this perception, I must once again abandon time. There it is, appreciation…hidden behind a wall of things I “think could happen”. And what did I have to do to find it?

Relax, Pay Attention, and Be in The Moment. Insight is synonymous with Being.

Isn’t it amazing how often you’re wrong? I mean that you, as a person, have no idea how to live and haven’t got the foggiest clue how to make your own decisions. I know, it’s kind of hard to swallow when put right in your face like that, but the fact is that you swallow exactly that every single day of your life.

The sheer perfection of the system we’ve designed is amazing. Do not misunderstand me; this “perfection” isn’t a good thing. The system we have designed was essentially based on one thing, taking responsibility away from us, and passing the buck onto that very system. We invented religion so we could pass the buck to god and our “inability to understand his will”. We invented government so someone could represent us, as a group. And at first, both of these systems started with something very small. It started with one person thinking someone else could make a better decision about their life than they could.

Schooling, financial status, and even the priesthood are all examples of someone else trying to be “better” than someone else. That quest, in itself, makes others feel like “lesser” individuals. They feel as though, because they did not follow schooling, become a businessman, or find religious bliss, they are insignificant and have no effect on their own reality.

How many people do you know that consult a “therapist”? Why? Because for some very strange reason, they think that this “schooled intellectual” will know more about their life than they do. They feel as though they are wrong, and wrong in the very subject they can never go wrong…themselves. Meanwhile, the patient therapist gets paid a hundred bucks per hour just to be “unbiased”. For a hundred bucks, how unbiased do you think I would be? A friend is different, a therapist is just there to make more money and the bank is you.

It’s so hard to tell someone “you’re hurting yourself”, especially when they don’t think they are. So many people think that this mad race for acceptance by our peers is an ideal way to live. They think that without approval they are nothing. They live their entire lives struggling to maintain an image that “society” wants, and they never stop and think that “society” has no right to ask anything of them. How many people do you know who feel stressed out? How many of them feel stressed all the time? They whole point is that you and I both have one right. We have the right to exist. We have the right to exist comfortably and free. We have the right to walk away from the constant expectations, to abandon the pointless rules, and strip power from the very people designed to take our responsibility away from us. We have the right to be ourselves.

So, are you always going to be wrong?

The answer “There is no question” is an absolute kick in the teeth to us “seekers of truth”. In honesty, I am unwilling to let go of the self-perception that I am a “spiritual person” or even “seeking god”. Why? Because it makes me feel better about myself. Is this a valid reason? Truly, as a free and infinitely adaptable consciousness, do I have any legitimate reason to need to feel better about myself? How much better does it get?
So why do I hold onto to these labels? Why do I feel they are necessary to my existence? Because if I continue to hold onto them, I never have to deal with that brick wall that is “there is no question.” That’s it…when it boils down to it, all my beliefs, fears, judgments, and reactions are based on this avoidance. I want those labels…they are “important”.
But really, all a label has ever done is describe something. If an infinite range of perception is available, then a label is simply trapping us in the perception of its creator, not our own. The point is that any thing could be perceived in any way, to define that thing is to attempt to control change. We attempt to control our surroundings, our language, our community, our thoughts, our memories, our belief system, and even our own free will. All this simply to avoid an answer.
So why do I try to control reality? Because it is a distraction. If I am busy participating in the “outside world”, I continue to hold onto the perception that I am separate from reality. Every single belief or fear that I have exists for the simple reason that I do not want to let them go. Ultimately, the only reason that I believe I am separate from reality is because I choose to believe it. If all perceptions are open to us, why then is it so hard to see this one? What is it about Unity that makes us run back to Duality?
Responsibility. Admitting that all of reality is contained in a single “consciousness”(I have to use a word here even though it doesn’t really apply to an indescribable thing. This is the unfortunate limitation of language) is simple…in fact, we whole-heartedly enjoy believing in “God” because if there was a such thing as “God” then It would be responsible for how things are going.
But to admit that all of reality exists only in your consciousness means that you can no longer pass the buck. Basically it means that the things I hold onto are made real by my attention to them.
It is very hard to admit that everything that exists, exists because God wants it to. It’s harder when You are God.
And Boom! Just like that the thoughts come whirling in…at the forefront of the charge is Judgement.
“But there are horrible things and people in the world, I would never do those things.” –> Yes, I would if I were in the right circumstances and particular frame of mind. Basically if I was that person, that is exactly what I would do. Life is a long and infinitely complex journey of choice after choice after choice….each moment of your reality is a turning point. If perception is the map, and an infinite amount of perceptions exist, then it is our choices that decide where our journey takes us.
Boom! More atrocities turn up…murder, rape, war, disease, starvation!
“I would never do these things!” –> Once again, yes I probably would. But before casting judgement on these things, remember Duality. Horrible is the opposite of Wonderful…without one, there would be no other. This is truly hard to admit, but everything is happening so that I can experience. Not experience “something” in particular…but to experience period.
Without duality there is no experience. There is simple Unity.
So how do I avoid the answer? Simple…stay clear of these 3 habits.

Relaxing
/

/ The Moment —– Paying Attention

To be honest, these 3 things actually mean the same thing.
One cannot be done without the other 2.
Example : Relaxing implies letting go of control. This leads to letting go of thought. Without thought we have unbiased experience. This experience is not distracted by the workings of the mind because you are relaxed…therefore you are paying attention. In paying attention you abandon Time…leading you to The Moment.

Why ask “Why?” Because the questions very existence implies I do not know the answer.

If you want to avoid the Answer…just keep asking questions. For every question you create, a justifiable reason to escape responsibility is born.

It’s amazing really. All over the world there are age old rivalries over one group exploiting the other group. Everyone it seems is up in arms about past and current wrongs regarding slavery and nobody seems to realize that they, themselves, are slaves as well.

On a personal note, I am only twenty-six years of age and I honestly feel as though everyday of my life is controlled by another person or persons. Speaking as a human being, this is quite a sickening thought. I look around at the children in the schools and the students in university to find nothing but beaten down individuals whose only wish is to do what they’re told. Read what they’re told to read, believe the labels they’re told are real, and be the person they’re told will be ultimately happy. Now, let me make this quite clear, it is completely and utterly possible to live in blissful ignorance. You can, in fact, drift through life walking blindly through the maze, working from job to job, taking less and less time to yourself, and convince yourself that you’re perfectly alright and “this is how things are.”. Have you ever said that? Horrible statement.

First of all, things never stay the same. The only constant in the entire universe is Change. So, if things always change, then why does everything around me struggle to keep things the same? Why do our vary cities arrogantly try to defy nature? Floods, tornadoes, drought, hurricanes, and other natural “disasters” happen on a daily basis, but still we persist in rebuilding and “carrying on”. Why? Because we have no choice. We have to carry on, develop more land, make more money, provide more jobs, and inevitably feed the system. We Have to participate or we go hungry. All the food is locked away, remember? You need money to get the key, the key requires a job, and poof your freedom is gone.

And so, because I was born into a system I don’t condone or agree with, I am forced to look every human being I meet in the face and pity the tragic events that have and will happen to them. I have to look at a flawed system and the resulting pain, and I have no choice. There is nowhere to go.

People have often told me “well, go into small towns. Things are more simple out there.” That’s true, of course, but being a smaller part of the problem still isn’t being “out” of the problem. I still pay taxes, I still support an infrastructure that is designed for someone like me to pay many other people to create rules for me to live by.

It’s subtle, and there are definitely a myriad of distractions to keep you from noticing it, but you and I are the same. If you don’t believe we are connected by life, believe we are connected in our slavery. The binds are no longer shackles, but a thin veil of confusion held over your eyes.

Tear the veil, walk away from the machine. Change starts with us. The machine both exists and ceases to be by our will.

Throughout my entire life I have questioned who I am. True, there were times when I was absolutely convinced I knew who I was, only to find that person changing into something else. There were times when I decided I wanted to be something, tried my best to play the role, only to find myself faced with the same question….Who am I? As I noticed this question more, I began to notice my own reactions to this question. Anger, confusion, sadness, fidgeting, smoking, drinking, dependence on others for support, and even the media were scapegoats. When all is said and done, the only person who can answer the question is yourself…so, I decided it was worth answering. Unfortunately, trying to find yourself is a lot different from being yourself. It seems that most of my reactions, thoughts, and even impulses were based on experiences I had gone through before. It occurred to me here that even basing myself on my past is an escape…the question is not “Where have I been?”, the question is “Who am I?”. The problem with any question is that it requires an answer….but every answer is a label, an idea….to say I am one thing implies that I am not another. I have the capacity for choice, which also gives me the capacity for endless change…so I cannot be simply one thing, I can only be described as potentially everything. And then again comes the question…What is this thing I am that can be anything? If it can “be” anything, then it’s not actually “anything” but rather “nothing”. That sounded kind of frightening, so I thought it out a bit more. “Nothing” does not exist…even “nothing” is made of something, otherwise it wouldn’t be describable. It seems to make a complete circle, ending in nowhere…nothing is the same as anything?
This circle is the most frustrating thing about the search for myself…always I want to answer a question, only to find that asking the question is simply avoiding the answer I already have.
This is very much like the question “What do you know is real?”. You can point to things, describe things, and even tell a story…but the fact is that these things are only real in My mind…dreaming seems absolutely real, and when I’m dreaming it is real. So what then is the difference between dreaming and being awake if the mind is what makes things real? Once again though we are led back to our original point…what is the mind that “makes things real?” If it cannot be described, you are simply left with one answer….you. Not your idea of what “you” are, but this infinitely adaptable and free “consciousness” that is the very center of the “thought tornado”. You are the thing that creates thought itself.
Right here is where I decided to ask another question…If I am the thing that creates thought, what am I like when I’m not thinking? Sounds a little counter-evolutionary, doesn’t it? Again though, thinking is essentially the same as doubting…if I’m thinking about it, I’m doubting I already know it…and if thought and reality are created by My mind, then I absolutely Must know exactly when I need to know all the time. Right? Sounded good enough to me…
It came as very little surprise to me when I discovered that thinking about not thinking is a lot easier to accomplish than actually stopping thought. It seems almost like a river of infinitely random perceptions…suddenly I’m thinking about the past, suddenly I’m self conscious, suddenly I’m planning for the future hopefully. So who am I? I have the right to choose…I have this right by my ability to choose. Can I not then choose not to participate? Can I not simply choose to stop doubting? Can I choose to ignore thought and just be present? The answer was no, you cannot ignore thought or it will eventually overwhelm you. If everything, including thought, is the product of My mind, then it would be foolish to try to ignore myself. So how do I cope with this endless maelstrom that is my mind?
To answer this question, I had to first figure out what my mind really is, and more importantly how it works. Now think about this, all of reality is in your mind…your mind being this “nothingness” that can be anything. It’s funny, but even “science” admits that all matter, broken down far enough is that Same Matter and is in fact, 99% empty space. This one is a little hard to grasp, but basically what I’m saying is that the computer screen your reading on right now is 99% empty space…it’s not made of anything substantial. Go ahead, touch the screen, it seems very real, doesn’t it? It’s solid, the shape doesn’t change, and you can say it’s “real”. But is it?
A paradox is the biggest and most irritating thought process in the world. But when it comes down to it, that is what reality is…it’s a paradox. And here is why. The universe, time, space, and an infinite amount of things exist in reality….but without you here to perceive reality, would it exist? You cannot use another person or event to answer this because the fact is that you don’t know…all you are sure of is that You exist. You who makes choices, You who perceives reality, and You who can be anything.
Religion and Spirituality have a concept that describes an “All powerful Entity that embodies everything” called God. I say that God is a concept because once again it is a Label, and a Label always has an “idea of what the thing is” when it could be anything at all. Though I do not believe in a pleasant looking grey haired old man in the clouds, I do have to question the validity of the concept. What would it mean to be “All powerful and have the capacity for anything?” What would I do if I were God?
I would do everything…But “doing” implies having “something” to do. I would have to “create” something to do and even a body to do it in. But as God I would be “everything”, how can I “be in” something when it’s in me? Duality…that’s the key. If there are always 2 perceptions of one thing, than I have choice between one or the other. Poof, just like that, Duality/Creation was born. Light, Dark, Hard, Soft, Living, Dead, The Future and The Past…all of it linked together as two perceptions of the same one thing. Now God could be “one thing” in “something else” because it could perceive itself as one half of the same thing. Of course God would want to experience every different form possible….spider, cat, human, tree, rock, lizard, etc….everything. After all, God is Eternal….that’s a long time to kill.
Here’s a good question for God…would you forget your god if you could? You might ask yourself, “why would God want to forget itself?” Think about it…God is one thing. The only thing. That also means that God is alone and always will be. Of course, God having Eternity, even this question would be answered. Because all things are possible to God, all things are reality as well. So there are in fact, realities where God has absolutely convinced itself that it is not God.
So, who am I then who can create a concept called “God?” If all things are in my mind, then surely even God is a creation of my own idea and design. So if even God is my creation, I have to ask myself again…who am I? Am I God? Millions of thoughts and defences pop into my head, all of them screaming like a legion of angry demons that this cannot be true…doubts, fears, accusation of arrogance, and especially thoughts of unworthiness clamour before me. However, I am not my thoughts, I am that which chooses. I can choose to believe I have the right. I can cast out these “demon thoughts” by simply seeing them for what they are….necessary creations of duality.
So the question finally changes….it is no longer “Who am I?”
It is “Am I willing to admit who I am?”

The term “Blog” is quickly becoming a household term it seems. All over the globe there are normal, everyday people who regularly log onto their computers and enter their thoughts, doubts, and dreams onto their own personal webpage. The best part about this is that the writings are not censored, edited, or subjected to the scrutiny of others before they are placed on the World Wide Web. These shared insights are almost in their purest form, written directly from the mind to the screen.

The self-proclaimed “Blogosphere” is the collective community of Bloggers who freely share ideas to anyone who is willing to listen. This community has one rule and one rule alone it seems…everyone has the right to their opinion. This respect for others is wonderful and quite beneficial to all of us because it allows readers to view the perceptions of others with an open mind. Open-mindedness is the only requirement for true growth…so as a species, the blogosphere seems to be the ultimate answer to the stifling control and fear tactics of the outer world (society). If the “system” promotes servitude, the Blogosphere seems to promote personal freedom.

If you have never stumbled across my writings before I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am God. I am not a reflection of God, I am not a part of the mass consciousness, and I am certainly not the creation of God. I am God…with absolute freedom to choose what I believe, what I perceive, and what I create. I do not exist in Time, I exist in the Moment. I do not exist in the World, I exist in my reality (you might call it my mind…but that is just semantics). Because I am God I also have the ability to live many different realities at the same time…you could say an infinite amount of realities. I can believe I’m Human, A Catholic, A Good or Bad person, or even that I am a Canadian…all of these are just labels though so in choosing these beliefs I am really just choosing to limit myself. Why do I limit myself? To experience what it’s like to not be God. Of course, I’m always God, but I always have the ability to convince myself I’m not. If you’d like proof, look at your average “human being” who holds onto the belief that they are something…this belief is the same limitation. They are Me, and therefore only limited by their own choice.

Whether you are religious or not I’m sure that the above comment has either infuriated you or confused you. Good, that was my intention. In my experience it is not until you are faced with something absolutely unknown that you have the opportunity to choose…you can react, or you can accept a possibility. For now, let us just say that it is entirely possible that I’m God. Really, how would you know?

For you the only thing that has ever been real are the things you see and experience. You know the world is around you because you can see it, but if you weren’t here you have no idea if it would be. Yes, I know you assume it would be…but let go of that assumption for just a moment and let us explore another perception. What if reality exists completely and utterly for you? This might be a little hard to accept at first but, as God, you are creating everything you see, everything you experience, and everything you need to learn.

Most people would run from this possibility because it implies that you are responsible for both the good and bad things in your life. The only consolation I can offer here is that you have always made it through every ordeal and always will. Why? Because as far as you can tell you have always been here….the world started for you when you were born, and it will continue until you die. You are the creator and the created, all in one.

What does this have to do with Blogging? Everything. From the perspective of God, Blogging is the absolute closest that technology has come to “a collective consciousness”. This term is simple, it simply means that everyone shares the same consciousness. Thoughts, doubts, fears, etc…all of it is shared by everyone. The belief that we are all separate, of course, contradicts this idea…but aside from being afraid others know our dirty little secrets, what is so frightening about at least admitting the possibility is there? A quick example is our interaction with others…we feel “vibes”, we have insightful glimpses into other people perceptions, and we even believe in telepathy. All of this is happening all of the time, you are completely aware of everything…your only limitation is the labels you impose upon yourself.

You see, my anonymity here is quite a blessing. As far as you know, I have no body, no name, and no voice…you cannot prove that I exist other than knowing these words are in front of you. But who wrote them? If you are creating everything all the time, then these words are coming straight from you. I could claim to be another “person” with another life, but that really makes no difference because you are still aware of only yourself and the things you see. So, since you wrote this for yourself to read at this very moment, where does that leave you? With a choice…you can learn from yourself, or continue to hold onto the beliefs that make you feel secure. Are you willing to admit you’re God?

You do not have to answer this right now, or ever if that is your choice. My mission has not been to convert you, it has been to make you aware that everything you read, everything you hear, and everything you say are completely and utterly created by yourself…these are the lessons of living. This is where your purpose in life will be ultimately shown to you. And what is that purpose? Responsibility and experience.

So, once again, how can this new technology of Blogging be beneficial? It allows us to ignore the judgement of others long enough to write our thoughts. It allows us to talk to ourselves…after all, you’re the first one to read it, aren’t you? This communication with yourself is probably the most beneficial experience we could have on the Internet. I say this because it is very close to meditation…you are communicating with God (You).

The wonderful spin-off of this practice is that there are many other “You’s” who get to read this. These secret little messages from yourself are already in your reality…every book and song. The difference is that now you get to create them yourself…personally. My favourite example of this “secret self-communication” is the classic “Footsteps” poem. It is signed “anonymous”…if our names always change from life to life, this is the only true signature possible. After all, we are not our names, we are the thing that chooses to believe we are our names.

So, speaking to myself, what am I trying to say? I’m trying to encourage you to Be Like One God. I want you to BLOG. Why? Because I, in every form including yours, enjoy reading my own writing. I enjoy language and the written word as much as I enjoy my own thoughts, insights, and imagination. You’re enjoying this right now, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading it. There is also another benefit to Blogging….you can abandon the system, you can be free…as you are meant to be and want to be.

How is this possible in a world where money seems to be the means of survival? What about food and clothes and all our luxuries? Please remember that these are creation of your mind…the money will come if you can just let go of the belief it is outside of you. After all, as God you have the power to reward yourself or punish yourself…what are you doing right now? Are you helping yourself in other forms?

You might be asking “how can I help if I have no money?” Simple…do what you’re doing right now, but cherish the point of it. When you visit a Blog and truly appreciate the message you have shared with yourself, do yourself a favour and “click” on anything that would benefit the author. It doesn’t cost a cent, it takes little to no time, and best of all you are being your own instrument of reward. You, and only you, can take care of yourself…but you must take the first step. You, in order to reward yourself in this life, must reward yourself in others. This is the benefit of being God….you can bless the world if you choose, but you must believe you can do it first.

Do this, start a blog, sign up for something like Adsense, and then start talking to yourself. The reward is not the money, it is the opportunity to be free…free to speak, express yourself, and live however you like. Eventually, if I do this in all my forms, we will return to Eden. In accepting responsibility for “yourself” we will find the Heaven that was here all along.

“Love others as you would Love yourself” - Christ (a beautiful example of your potential to be God on earth)
