However, there are times when fear can effectively cripple a person&#8217;s ability to do what needs to be done. This is particularly true if the fear comes in the form of anxiety disorders and phobias, which can sometimes be termed as being “unreasonable,” as compared to the more normal, “reasonable” fears.</p>
<p>Anxiety disorders and phobias, while distinct from one another, do have several common features. Both of them are considered to be an unhealthy fear. Both are considered to be psychological disorders, though it is generally accepted that phobias emerge from anxiety disorders.  For sure, there are a number of factors that cause anxiety disorders and phobias. Anxiety disorders and phobias can be triggered by a number of stressful situations.  But clearly, most studies indicate that anxiety disorders might take longer to form or develop as compared to phobias.</p>
<p>Some theorize that phobias are formed as part of the exaggerated aspect of the natural human survival instinct.  Phobias are reactions to “natural threats” to a person&#8217;s well-being, for example, the fear of spiders or the fear of heights.  The difference lies in the severity of the fear reaction.  A phobia can totally paralyze or debilitate a person while having a simple fear will just elicit a response that does not necessarily interrupt a person&#8217;s normal functions.</p>
<p>In contrast, stress and anxiety takes a number of formative years to develop, or more appropriately, worsen before it affects a person.  The stress and anxiety can actually lead to other phobias such as claustrophobia, the fear of closed spaces, and hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia &#8212;- which is the irrational fear of the number 666.</p>
<p>According to some psychologists, stress and anxiety combined with external triggers and internal factors that impact on an individual&#8217;s psyche can cause phobias. There are some who believe that anxiety disorders are not constant and can generally be treated with medication, whereas phobias are generally believed to require extensive therapy.  In reality, no credible, verifiable studies have produced results to back up this claim . Very little information is available and the research on the subject matter do not necessarily refute some of the existing theories.</p>
<p>Interestingly, a number of modern “phobias” are highly social in nature, perhaps reflecting the growing sense of status anxiety and social anxiety people feel. These particular phobias are generally considered to be non-clinical and are mere signs of mild social disorders that cannot be categorized as phobias. Most experts view these new “phobias” as little more than signs of people developing social anxiety and status anxiety as a result of ignorance or misinformation. There are also some that carry discriminatory undertones, such as a “phobia” that centers around the fear of Christianity and the various Christian denominations.</p>
<p>Social class and nationality also seem to be linked to the new generation of these so-called phobias, eliciting worries of national-level status anxiety in the face of expanding globalization. Social anxiety is also hinted upon, with people starting to become more and more anxious about the increasing upward mobility available within various social and economic structures. There are some that have theorized that people are starting to develop an instinctive fear of what is sometimes seen to be rapid social restructuring, linking to a more personal form of status anxiety than the large-scale example cited above.</p>

If you are still wondering why you should bother to address even a single customer&#8217;s experience, consider the fact that you may not have any customers if you ignore one.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a story from a customer who was really enraged by his experience when he called a customer service hotline of a website hosting company.  Let us call him Ryan.</p>
<p>Ryan called the customer service hotline on Thursday to ask the web hosting company if they could restore the data in his computer. By Saturday, it still wasn&#8217;t done. He called again that Saturday and asked what was going on. He was told that the process would be finished in 24 to 48 hours, maximum.</p>
<p>Monday came, still nothing happened. He called again and pissed that nothing has done about it. He got an answer that it would be finished in 6 hours.</p>
<p>After fifteen hours of waiting, still it wasn&#8217;t restored. He said that every time he called, he was specific about the date that he wanted the back-up restored. The customer service agent he talked to even told him about the exact dates and times that the data would be restored.</p>
<p>He called back again and after being run around for 25 minutes, the customer service representative came back and told him that the company does not actually have any back up system in place. Ryan felt so frustrated when he heard those words from the agent.  It was a nightmare for him because he had lost all his data.</p>
<p>“So we argued for 15 minutes and you even refused to transfer me to a supervisor.  You even told me that the supervisor was too busy to take my call,” said Ryan.   “You played hold-chicken with me and left me waiting for twenty minutes when I asked to be transferred to the billing department,” he added.</p>
<p>Exasperated, Ryan just hung up the phone and made his final decision.  As you would actually would have guessed now, he canceled his account. Ryan transferred to another web hosting company.<br />
There is no excuse for treating customers like what had happened to a very disappointed Ryan. He is one prime example of a dissatisfied customer. It seems that the customer service representative forgot that the most important component of a company is the customer. Without customers like Ryan, a business won&#8217;t get an income. Admittedly, a business exists to earn a profit. Without customers who are willing to make purchases for a certain product or service, a business might fall into bankruptcy. Making a product attractive and spending a lot of money on advertising will not make customers purchase your product, especially if they were treated poorly.</p>
<p>The experience of a customer is determined by the way the company&#8217;s customer service was provided.  Was the customer satisfied with what he or she heard or encountered? People who have good experiences tell a few friends, people who have bad experiences tell everyone they know. Remember that statistics show that “word of mouth” is still the best form of advertising. So why not make some changes and leave a good impression on your customers?</p>

But after a few minutes of shouting and cursing at the phone menu and waiting on hold for 20 seconds, she was transferred to a human voice, finally!<br />
She recounts another lady answered on the other line and she sounded very friendly and happy to talk to her. The customer care agent asked her how she was, even asked her about the weather and then asked how she could help her. The lady customer told the representative her purpose and asked some questions about the phone which she was planning to buy. The representative obviously knew majority of the answers, her replies were quite friendly. The customer service experience was good, she said.<br />
Almost all of us have tried calling a customer service of a certain company once in our lives. We call them to ask assistance, directions, to complain or even inquire the schedule of the latest movie hit in town. Did you ever notice the way these customer service people speak? The tone of their voices? You can even sense if they are smiling when they talk. Of course, you can easily recognize if a person is happy or interested when he or she got a call from you. It is the number one rule in Customer Service, to be as friendly as much as possible to the person on the other line on the phone.</p>
<p>Being warm and friendly to your customers should be the most important component when you are in a call center industry or in a business to business environment. Being friendly builds better rapport with your customers. It makes or breaks a company so to speak.</p>
<p>However, having a friendly customer service support is not enough to increase the sales or demands of the<br />
products or services your company offers. Product knowledge is also a key ingredient to get the nod of your customers. It is essential that before you sell a product, you must know all about it, inside and out. To know your product better, remember to obtain as much information as you possibly can. Educate yourself with the features and benefits your product offers. Read constantly about the project as it may have updates or some changes you should know about.</p>
<p>Another way to really know your product is to actually use them personally if its feasible. When you answer a question to a customer, the customer can tell how much you believe in the product and you have confidence in it because you sounded you have actually tried it. Remember that the more you know your product, the easier it is to sell.<br />
Having the two A&#8217;s in the customer service is beneficial in the growth and success of a business. A combination of a good Attitude on dealing with your customers while providing them the appropriate Aptitude about your product will certainly boost the sales of the product and can retain the most important component of a company, the customers.<br />
As it turned out, the customer service experience of the lady mentioned above was good. She purchased the latest mobile phone she was inquiring about and told her friends about the great service she got from the company. All it took was a friendly customer service representative that knew what she was talking about.</p>

5.    Take time off from the wedding frenzy. Go away for the weekend with your groom, or treat your self to a spa date with your friends. Do what helps you to relax and during that time, avoid discussing or even thinking of your wedding plans.
