An Idea on Video Surveillance

Video surveillance has been utilized as early as the sixties, but when its utilization became common in the early 1990s, individuals started to become apprehensive of it. A couple assume it is an invasion to privacy while some are telling it’s a method of abuse of authority on the government’s side. A lot of persons are making a business about how the presence of surveillance cameras is getting into their nerves. Still no matter which way I look at it, I do not see anything inappropriate with installing surveillance camera systems around town especially on public places and dark alleys.

The concept of security camera systems was conceptualized when crime rates started to rise and techniques of terrorism started to rock the world. Small crimes, muggings, burglaries, rapes, homicides, etc. are becoming an everyday situation that the need for video security became of great significance, if not for convenient identification of the attackers and/or victims should they be seen on tape, to prevent crimes from taking place through the appearance of the surveillance camera. Yes, even the presence of a security camera could prevent an individual with mischief in mind on his tracks.

After the 9/11 World Trade Center attack, video surveillance system became famous as ever. Airports and all main ports of entry have upped their security systems a couple of notches and agencies have more CCTV cameras that could cover each square inch of the building than what is necessary yet it’s working. It has made the duty of following and identifying people with previous violent records simpler for the authorities, not to mention nabbing persons who are exhibiting suspicious attitude. In the UK, the security cams themselves can deal with violators right then and there by enjoining a speaker to the unit. That’s absolutely pretty smart.

But it is not just the government that achieves something from this, private firms, shop owners, as well as home makers are noticing the importance of a security camera system. A surveillance camera placed at a strategic pot at a shop is enough to replace a human security personnel, and they don’t sleep on duty unless you fail to regulate and update the system. Organizations huge and small are having their workplaces all wired up. A CCTV camera system is commonly the major selection but a wireless security camera for hidden surveillance is also so well-known. Same is true for private residences. You can be someplace else in the world away from home and still see the goings-on in your house, at the office, or at the store. Isn’t that such a big help?

Camera surveillance is not bad at all when used within reasonable limits. In fact, everything is. In public areas like shopping malls, subways, trains, schools, corners, parking spaces, and the like, absolutely have more benefits contrary to what a couple of people would have us believe. If you’re not doing anything wrong, then why would that be a predicament? You are still free to do whatever you like as long as you are not breaking the rules. But with the story of having a police video surveillance camera inside private homes may be taking it a bit far off. I assume a home owner could very well purchase a home security camera of his own if he thinks he needs it. The idea is to not oversensationalize it. If the only issue here is privacy, I’d rather be safe.
