Fuel savings
Whilst the Government carries on increasing tax duty on Petrol and Diesel, LPG has had its duty reduced twice during the last two budgets. Owners of fleet cars, taxis and other high mileage vehicles can save thousands of pounds on annual fuel costs by converting their cars to run on LPG

Costs no more to insure
Many motorists believe that vehicles with LPG conversions will be more expensive to insure. However, a survey carried out by the LPG Association (LPGA), essentially showed that this isn’t the case. The top 20 insurance companies all said they insure a LPG converted car so long as the conversion had been carried out by an LPG approved installer. Only two insurers advised they would charge an extra premium for vehicles with LPG conversions.

LPG is substantially safer than petrol or diesel
According to the LPG Association (LPGA), the gas is substantially safer to use than petrol or diesel. This is largely attributed to the fact that the LPG fuel is stored in a robust tank. LPG tanks also shut down the gas supply if you have an accident.

It has never been easier to fill up
The number of LPG stations in the UK is in excess of 1,300, and increasing steadily. LPG pumps are pretty much the same as old-fashioned petrol pumps and all LPG stations are fairly similar in the way they do things. Most LPG pumps have clear diagrams to help on your first visit and it’s impossible to put diesel or petrol in your LPG tank by mistake.

LPG is popular all over the world
Travelling in an LPG vehicle can almost halve the cost of travelling in a petrol-powered car. LPG is readily available in Europe, however it is more commonly known as Autogas or GPL.

LPG is also extremely popular in Australia, The Netherlands, Italy, Serbia, Poland, Hong Kong and Korea. The former Soviet republic of Armenia may, however, be the world leader in autogas use.

Reduced maintenance levels
Owners of cars with LPG conversions experience an overall reduction in engine wear and LPG is clean burning and contains no lead or carbon deposits. Maintenance costs on spark plugs, pistons, rings and valves are also reduced.

Government grants available
The Government are offering grants to car owners, fleets and businesses who consider converting to LPG or other eco friendly alternative fuels.

The London Congestion Charge
Owners of LPG powered cars may qualify for a 100% discount on the London Congestion Charge . Your car has to be an approved vehicle type in band 4 of the Transport Energy Powershift Register. Your vehicle must also be supplied or converted by an LPGA Approved supplier. Finally, your vehicle must meet the emission standards set by the Transport Energy CleanUp Register.

Performance is not lost
LPG drivers not only reduce their fuel costs - they can also put their foot down knowing their vehicle will perform just as before. LPG Conversions do not cause any noticeable difference in the running of your car . The Sequential Gas Injection (SGI) system has the same performance and driving characteristics as petrol therefore does not change the running of your car.

Environment
Fuel emissions cost society financially and economically. The financial costs are calculated based on city population sizes in the UK, and grams of pollutants emitted per 1000km travelled by each automotive vehicle fuel type. These figures are directly related to the ecomonical costs in terms of health care expenditure.

The benefits of alternative fuels are reduced health problems such as Congestive heart failure, Respiratory problems and Bronchitis, which all relate to poor air quality. Individuals and organisations that adopt the environmentally-friendly alternative automotive fuels and technologies are not only generating cost savings for themselves but also for the larger society.
